![]() None the less, she -and her very loyal friend Serpico-took their first tentative steps towards redemption, so that's something. After all, it took an entire legion of goo monsters and Mozgus' fiery death to convince Farnese she was on the wrong side of history. It was even better watching her disavow the Holy Iron Chain Knights, though to be fair I'm not entirely convinced she's a changed woman. She's been cowering in the corner for what feels like forever, so it was great to see her finally pick up a torch and help Guts beat back Team Evil. I can't say I'll miss Nina nearly as much, but I'm glad "Puffy Lady" survived, and her decision to start a new life with the somehow-still-alive Joachim instead of spending the rest of her days clinging to Luca was a testament to how she's grown as a character. I'm definitely going to miss her being a part of Guts' party. It was a nice, sentimental touch that showed the depths of her compassion. The whole sequence was great, as was the end scene where Luca made a memorial bouquet for the nameless egg creature. ![]() I haven't always been on board with the art direction in this show, but it was definitely at its best here. ![]() ![]() Tight shots inside the barrel juxtapositioned with wider shots of blood demons converging on the Tower of Conviction gave the scene a real sense of danger and urgency. I loved how her clever thinking was accompanied by equally clever camera angles, too. Stuffing her friend in a barrel and telling her to shut up and sit still, then leaping into a nearby well to avoid enemy detection? That was a stroke of brilliance, made all the more impressive by the fact that Luca had only seconds to decide on a course of action. ![]() Once again, my favorite character of the season proved her greatness by drawing on an abundance of metis to save both herself and an injured Nina from an army of squishy blob monsters. Topping the list of MVPs this week was Luca. This week the group managed to keep them at bay long enough for the monsters to evaporate in a haze of sunshine, thanks in part to a couple of side characters who really stepped up their game. Last week ended on a nail-biter, with Guts and his allies surrounded by blood demons. ![]()
